Innovation as tradition

The origins of the company go back to a traditional locksmith’s – the family business Büttner Stahl- und Maschinenbau founded in 1947. Our decades of continually developed expertise form the cornerstone of MIAS. Our achievements over the years include, for example, producing the first ever sliding table – today’s ‘telescopic fork’ – in 1965. In the same year, working in cooperation with the company Bayer AG, we also created the first ever German high rise storage facility in Augsburg. In 1975, the family business evolved into an engineering company that developed material flow systems. In 1985, MIAS came into being in its current form, as a manufacturing company. Since 1989, MIAS has been steadily expanding into international markets. Today, the company employs more than 300 staff members at five locations and, as an OEM, supplies stacker cranes and telescopic forks worldwide.

Along with the headquarters in Munich, MIAS is also represented via its subsidiaries based at the following locations:

  • 1989 Mátra in Gyöngyös, Hungary
  • 2006 MIAS, Inc. Material Handling Systems & Service - in Charlotte, North Carolina, USA
  • 2009 MIAS Materials Handling (Kunshan) Co., Ltd. in Shanghai/China
  • 2011 MIAS Italy
